Meetingbears is an application to improve knowledge about the distribution of the brown bear in the Cantabrian Mountains, and therefore, collaborate in its conservation.
By recording the evidence of bears that we find and using citizen science, it will be possible to carry out continuous and simultaneous monitoring of the presence of bears at different points, considering all the distribution areas of the species.The application includes a guide on the different signs of brown bears that we can find and how to differentiate them.
These indications can be recorded anywhere and it is advisable that they are accompanied by a photograph and the location, whenever possible, to facilitate the scientific use of the information provided.However, and for the correct protection of the species, all data will be validated by the Oso de Asturias Foundation and will not be publicly accessible.
They will be kept in a database with restricted access, used for scientific purposes.
